The Ferrari 250 GTO car made its debut at the 12 Hours race of Sebring in 1962, driven by the team of American Phil Hill (the reigning Formula One Drivers Champion at the time) and Belgian Olivier Gendebien. The highly experienced pair finished 2nd overall behind the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa of Bonnier and Bianchi. The 250 GTO was an exceptionally capable racing car and at the time the fastest straight line car on the race track. Ultimately, the GTO won the World Manufacturer’s Championship three years in a row from 1962 to 1964.
